Do you want to see the mountain gorillas, but you don’t have much time? We pick you up from Kigali and drive you to Volcanoes N.P. in Rwanda. We offer ground transfers and comfortable accommodation to make this an unforgettable and hassle-free experience. For those looking to save time and commune with the gorillas, this is the perfect tour.
Day by Day
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
A representative of Trek gorilla tours will pick you up from your accommodation in Kigali or to the Airport. You will continue your journey to the Virunga ranges, home of the Mountain Gorillas. You shall stay at Musanze known for its tranquillity and views.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking – Kigali
An early start for a special day – Trekking the Mountain Gorillas!
From the lodge, you drive in about 30 minutes to the Rwanda development board office (RDB). The head ranger of the RDB will divide you into groups. The Gorillas you will track belong to one of ten habituated family groups that can tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period every day.
From the Kinigi headquarters office, your driver/guide will take you as close as possible to the starting point of your Gorilla tracking. Your trek will be an exciting journey along forested slopes, entwined vines, bushes, and bamboo before you eventually reach the Gorillas’ habitat. En route, your guide will point out signs of previous Gorilla activity, including dung, nests and chewed bamboo shoots.
The time taken to track the Gorillas can take as little as half an hour to as much as 8 hours! Once the Gorillas have been located, you will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. Coming face-to-face with a Mountain Gorilla is a truly humbling and emotional experience. This is a fantastic and privileged opportunity to get up close and personal with Rwanda’s own ‘Gorillas in the Mist’. Back to the Hotel for Lunch and Relax, then drives you to Kigali Hotel or Kigali Airport.
Note: Trek Gorilla Tours purchases the permits in advance but is unable to reserve a specific gorilla group as it is for the head ranger to decide this!
